Cetem, a Furniture Technology Centre
Since 1995, as a part of CETEM’s innovation promotion policies, the centre has been organising the International Industrial Furniture Design Competition, whose main objectives are to encourage collaboration between companies and designers, as well as to promote the culture of design in organisations as a strategy for competitiveness and differentiation of companies in the industry. During these 30 years of existence, its achievements in innovation and technological development have made CETEM one of the main business references in the sector at an international level.

28 CETEM Design Award
CETEM invites international companies from the Habitat Sector to participate in the 28th edition of the CETEM DESIGN AWARD, an international award for industrial furniture design.
Aim
To promote Design Culture in the Furniture Sector to demonstrate the importance of integrating Design into the innovation process and its contribution to business success.
To reward the development of furniture design projects, whether furniture or other elements of the Habitat (for domestic use or Contract installations) that involve innovation at any level: new conceptual proposals, use of innovative and sustainable materials, alternative production processes, adaptation to new lifestyles, modes of consumption, technological, social, cultural innovation, eco-sustainability, etc.
Participants
Any company in the habitat sector that develops innovative products with the collaboration of designers (whether internal or external to the company) can apply.
Any company is free to submit as many projects as it wishes and considers appropriate. There is no limit to the number of proposals submitted by each participating company.
The professional status of the designers or design teams must be accredited. In other words, the project or product must be designed by a professional in the field of design. This fact will be proved with the corresponding degree related to Design in any field, Architecture or other similar studies that accredit sufficient knowledge on the part of the designer(s). For those professionals who do not have an official qualification, the accreditation of the professional skills of the designers will also be valid through proven experience in the development of design projects with companies in the sector, which will be assessed by the members of the jury.
Jury members, their relatives or professional collaborators are not allowed to participate.
Competition dynamics
PHASE 1: Submission of applications and projects.
Any company interested in submitting its candidature can register through the form included in this website.. En este formulario, se indicarán 1. Datos identificativos de la empresa 2. Nombre del diseñador (o equipo de diseño) que ha ideado, definido y/o desarrollado el proyecto 3. Un enlace online (web o similar), o bien, adjuntar una memoria de proyecto en el que se muestren tanto las imágenes del producto como sus características innovadoras.
A CETEM technical team made up of specialists in Design and Innovation will analyze all the proposals submitted and will make a pre-selection of the most innovative projects that will become the final projects. Based on the results obtained in this first selection, CETEM will communicate the results to the FINALIST companies, which will have to present the prototype that will be evaluated in the next phase.

PHASE 2: Presentation of prototypes
The companies selected in the first phase as FINALISTS will have until January 30, 2025 to present, at CETEM’s facilities, the PROTOTYPE OR PRODUCT of the finalist project.

Jury’s meeting and selection of winners
The jury selected for the 28th edition will be made up of international designers, professionals in the field of design and habitat, as well as entrepreneurs and manufacturers from the furniture sector. The President of the Jury will be the Director of CETEM. The president of the jury will be the CETEM´s director.
